So I’m just going to go ahead and drop this here…you know, like I haven’t fallen behind maybe four or five weeks now.
This is (supposed to be) a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful Lia at Lost In A Story.
Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
The Heir of Night | by: Helen Lowe
The summary on Goodreads doesn’t actually really say what this book is about, and for the life of me I can’t remember why I even put this on my TBR list to begin with. Maybe I thought the cover looked nice. It wouldn’t be the first book I wanted to read for that reason. Still, I don’t think I’m going to pick this one up any time soon, so I might as well take it off the list.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood | by: Oliver Bowden
I have mixed feelings about novelizations of other media. On the one hand, you usually get a lot more details than you got in the original, but on the other there’s no real surprise as to the outcome of the story. I read the first novelization of the Assassin’s Creed games and while I loved the bit of extra they gave, most notably the friendship between Ezio and Leonardo, it was still a boring read. I had played the games and so I knew how the story ended. When you know how that story ends, it hardly feels worth the effort to pick the book up and continue reading.

The Den Of Shadows #5-7 | by: Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Ok so I’m going to combine these three together since they’re all part of the same series. This author is one of my automatic saves so there’s no debate that I’m keeping these on the list. I read the first 4 forever ago before these three were even written yet so I’ll probably have to do a reread of those first but I definitely don’t have a problem with that.
Judgement: Keep!
The Magic Kingdom Of Landover #2-4 | Terry Brooks
Terry is another automatic save. His books have been some of my favorites since I started reading fantasy. It took me a while to finally start reading his Landover series (I read the first book only about 2 or 3 years ago) but I enjoyed it enough and I of course trust him to deliver a story that is entertaining.
Judgement: Keep!
The Book Of Lost Tales 1 & 2 | J.R.R. Tolkien
Oh Tolkien, would it be sacrilegious of me to say that I do not enjoy reading you in the least? Everything that surrounds Middle-Earth is amazing and is totally the reason I love rich fantasy worlds but most of his books read like text books. I loved The Hobbit and was even able to mostly enjoy LOTR but boy did it take me forever to read them. If I ever come across these books in the used book store for a good price then maybe I’ll think about reading them. No sence in having them clutter my TBR list though.
