review 1: Cut,paste, kill refers not to computer cutting and pasting but rather to scrapbooking. For a change, we have a female serial killer on our hands, one who has meticulously documented the crimes of the murder victim. A real life Dexter, perhaps? Either way, it's not a good situation for either Biggs or Lomax and their boss wants answers. This case definitely turns out to be different from anything the boys have seen before. The bright shining star turns out to be the sudden guardianship that Lomax has for a seven year old girl. He and Donna are taking care of Sophie and she is like a magic presence in their lives, bringing intense joy despite the misery of the investigation. She brings intense joy to the entire book as well which is narrated terrifically, particularly in the ... morebeginning where a British character was interrogated and he responded not just with a British accent but with British pronunciation of common words. A great touch.
review 2: In this one Lomax and Biggs are investigating a series of murders committed by someone leaving behind a scrapbook of the murder victim's dastardly crime. Big Jim is pushing Mike to propose to Diana, and a little girl enters into Mike and Diana's hearts. As always Marshall Karp provides a fun and breezy read. I was a bit disappointed in two things: 1) I figured out the murders way too early, and 2) I had hoped Mike would at least propose to Diana by the end of the book. But as always I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next in the series. Hopefully Mike will come to his senses by then. less
