Our latest trip was back to our old stomping ground in London. New to us were a drink at the French House followed by a meal at Pierre Victoire in Soho (excellent food, notably mussels, croquettes, beef goulash and hake – and would have been a bargain except for all the booze …) and being on Whitehall for the one minute’s silence on Remembrance Sunday. Always nice to catch up with Pimlico too and our home from local, the Cask.
Whilst there we had a side-trip to Cambridge as I had wanted to see it for some time. It is beautiful by the river with the colleges and the backs, but it was somewhat marred by all the trip touts. And it was, not unsurprisingly, very busy … so we went off to seek a real ale pub and spent a happy half an hour in the Cambridge Blue which had interesting old signs and a large selection of real ale.
