For me, the most important part of my make up routine is getting my foundation right.
My skin is frustratingly pale and finding a foundation that does not make me look orange has always been difficult. After many years of experimenting, I have finally found my top five foundations that are pale enough to match my skin tone. I have also noticed a lot of lighter shade foundations are almost too pale – finding a happy medium is a difficult task, but below are my fab five and I hope you can find your perfect foundation.
I don’t just love these products for the colours and tones available – I also love how they apply and make my skin feel.

1)Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation – NW10 £23.50
This was the first expensive foundation I ever treated myself to. After only shopping at drugstores previously, I needed to know what the hype was all about.
The colour is the best shade for my pale skin without totally washing me out. The product has a gorgeous scent to it which I feel the other products lack. Perfectly blendable, this is my go to foundation whenever I want to look and feel good.
2)Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation – 0 Porcelain £34
This product closely resembles MAC in terms of the shade, but the formula isn’t as ‘thick’ – making it my runner up! However the consistency does allow you to alter your makeup look – from a light natural looking layer for day time to a more full-on up evening look.
3. Maybelline Fit Me – 110 Porcelain £6.99
I bought this while travelling in America and really didn’t expect much. An impulse buy turned into my best friend!!
I think the colouring and quality is just as good as the Bobbi Brown and no where near as expensive. I would totally recommend this to any who can’t or simply won’t pay the higher price tag.
4) Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation- 40 Light Ivory £11.99
I always feel absolutely glowing when using the product. It feels more like applying a moisturiser as appose to a new face. There are less colours to choose from but thankful their light shade has no hint of orange.
5) The Ordinary Coverage Foundation – 1.2N Light £5.90
For me, this is the newbie of the bunch. Unfortunately the colouring is totally off on this one for me. The formula is great, applies well and is easy to build up, so I’m annoyed I didn’t pick the right shade. I love everything else about it and will most definitely be ordering again in the hope to find “The One”.
I am really keen to hear other opinions and suggestions on foundations suitable for light skin tones, so please feel free to comment.
PS. Any tips for long lasting foundation are also wanted!
