She was hidden from the world. Then he arrived.

An emotional new novel from six-time USA Today bestselling author Deanna Roy

For four years, I’ve lived in almost total seclusion. Homeschooled, forbidden from social media, seeing no one other than the dancers at Dreamcatcher Academy, where I teach ballet to little girls in wheelchairs.

Then Blitz arrives.

He’s the disgraced host of Dance Blitz, a bawdy reality show where Blitz sleeps with as many dancers as possible while looking for his perfect partner.

At least he was. A few weeks ago, he got kicked off his own show.

He’s at my academy for a publicity stunt, and my wheelchair ballerinas are his ticket back into the public’s good graces.

I intend to hate him and stay as far away as possible. But when he looks at me, I can’t resist. Before I realize what’s happened, we’re sneaking into back rooms, dancing, kissing, planning dates away from the cameras and the wrath of my family.

But I’m afraid. I have a secret at the academy, a small, wonderful, terrible secret, and if I stay with Blitz, the world will find out.

Forbidden Dance is a full-length standalone HEA, although fans who fall in love with Blitz and Livia can continue the series to follow more of their love story

SASCHA DARLINGTON’S REVIEW

The entire premise of Forbidden Dance was intriguing to me. Recently it seems like I have read several novels about young women who have either been raised in cults or in a super-religious environment so that their lives have been put on hold. This adds an entirely new dimension to a book and in a lot of ways it ends up being a far more satisfying read than the run-of-the-mill average angsty characters.

Livia is definitely unique. She’s in a situation in which she has been home-schooled, has never really had any life experiences that translate toward getting a job, and she’s somewhat naive.

I was a little apprehensive about Benjamin/Blitz’ character because, sorry if this offends anyone who is loving the players, but I frankly don’t see the appeal in man whores. Fortunately Benjamin is a nice guy and has had to fill a role once the ratings on his show started to rise. He is charming and charismatic.

There was quite a bit about Forbidden Dance that felt like a fairy tale, but after a while I was pretty swept up by the story and I didn’t care. I didn’t care that there may have been a whole insta-love thing going on, which I may call other books out on at times. And, I didn’t care that the ending was like a fairy tale ball (if it were on reality tv with an audience and cameras) because I loved it. I think the difference as to why I do call these things out on other books and not on books like Forbidden Dance is because the author has managed to work some magic with the storytelling that gave me an escapist opportunity, which doesn’t always happen. Really, that’s the whole point of reading lovely fiction: to escape from whatever’s going on.

Forbidden Dance is the first book in a series, but frankly because it was self-contained and ended on a high note with me, I’m not sure that I want to even risk any of that getting soured with further entries. But who knows…never say never.
