Hate to Love You by Tijan

5 stars

Ok. I don’t give 5 stars often because I get hung up on stupid stuff. This is why I have a lot of books reviewed at 4.5 stars. Almost there by not quite. This book in my opinion is a 5 star book. I love Tijan’s writing. I think she writes the best YA, NA and contemporary romance. Her lead female characters are always gorgeous (like drop dead gorgeous and do not know it) and they are always march to the beat of their own drum. They are outcasts and don’t quite fit it. They are never the popular girls. My conclusion, they live in this weird towns where only stupid guys reside because they don’t realize what gems these women are.

This book is not different. Kennedy is beautiful but sarcastic and prickly. She purposely try and avoid being popular to the point that she does not want people to know she is related to her brother. She has been hurt before and don’t want a repeat experience.

Shay like most of Tijan’s male characters is the most popular guy on campus. He’s a star athlete, gorgeous and he has a brain. He pursues Kennedy without losing that alpha male quality.

Why the 5 stars you ask? That declaration of love is everything. EVERYTHING. It made me want to go back to college and redo it. It made me want to tell my husband to pretend we are not married and redo his proposal. I DIED when I read that scene. I heart Shay. Yes. You heard me. I think this is my favorite Tijan book to date and that is saying something.
