Continuing on from Veronica Roth’s Divergent adventurous novel Divergent, Insurgent follows Tris, Four and her brother Caleb as they run away from their factions and try to piece together what happened after the attack on Abnegation.
From the district of the factionless to Erudite and Candor HQ, the three teenagers make their own sacrifices in an attempt to reveal their society’s biggest secret.
What I loved the most about Insurgent it flowed nicely on from Divergent in a way that felt seamless. There wasn’t a recap of what had happened in the first novel, Divergent. I personally felt this made the opening of Insurgent a lot better instead of re going over what had happened in Divergent.
I love how Insurgent tells more about Tris in the second novel. Her actions mirror those of someone suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and this made the plotline feel more real, after everything she suffered in such a small space of time of the first novel.
Miss Roth deals with the cliffhanger and the way it affects the characters in the story as inevitable that it will. I suppose I will have to get on with Allegiant to find out, how the series ends.
