June Wrap Up!

Happy Friday Book Nation!

So I’m just getting back into the swing of things so I have little to actually recap in terms of blog posts for the month but I did read a ton of books and I’m really excited to share them with you. I’ll just jump right in because I’ve got nothing else to write in this intro.

 what I hauled*
  • The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
  • One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
  • Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua
  • Made in the Image of the Goddess by Chantelle Griffin
  • City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
  • City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
  • City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
  • City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
  • City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
  • City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
  • Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare (and others)
  • Yep, as you can see it was a big month for me. I feel like I’ve been in a slump for the past few months and purchasing the entire Mortal Instruments series was the best decision I’ve made in a while because it got me right out of that slump. I could kiss Cassandra Clare for the genius that is this series.

     what I read*

I basically flew through the entire Mortal Instruments this month but before that I had gobbled up the Name of the Wind (which is one of the best fantasy books I’ve ever read, the world building was impeccable and the characters fully fleshed out, I can’t say enough about it). With the Mortal Instruments I’ve been in a crazy rush to catch up because I’m expecting physical copies of Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows and I want to rip into them as soon as they arrive so yeah, I had to catch up (It helped that they were all pretty good books though lol)

For some reason I was in the mood for some high-school drama filled books so I decided to pick up One of Us is Lying which absolutely did not disappoint, it kinda surprised me because I was not expecting it to be as intense as it was (I still had a few issues with it) but overall I enjoyed the book.

If you follow me on twitter you probably remember that I joined a book club (which was really exciting) and the pick of the month was Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother which gave me a surprising amount of insight into the Chinese parenting methods and it was really interesting to draw parallels between the Chinese way and the African way (which, I feel, are surprisingly very similar (except for the classical instruments thing)).

In total thats about 9 book, which is probably better than the previous three months combined (yay!)
