Let’s Talk About Jane

I’ve been schooled in the art of love and seduction at such an early age that ushered in hopeless romantic ideals that my mom and aunts often shook their heads when I voice out that I want to marry a Highlander — the real one traipsing around wearing kilts (and knicker-less) around the highlands of Scotland.

Although they’re not as brawny as the lairds in my dreams, it’s no surprise that I’ve developed a love for dark, brooding fellas like Rochester or the Austen male characters.

Thus, my love of plain Jane Eyre and her naive love and travails.

There’s been a re-imagined version of the classic that is more daring and shall I daresay risque. With some hot scenes, BDSM-style, and Jane (mirroring Fifty Shades of Grey’s Anastasia Steele) being the not-so-innocent recipient of some rough lovin’, one would think, “Are these re-imagined versions just riding the bandwagon popularized by more prolific erotica authors such as E.L. James, K. Bromberg, Meredith Wild, Katy Evans and J. Kenner to name a few?”

I’ll let you marinate on that thought, but nothing beats the classic.
