I’m not gonna sit here and pretend like I pay for my own HBO subscription. I won’t bullshit you like that. But if you’re like Brynelle, and in the darkest of times must pay $15 a month to enjoy your favorite Not Safe for Cable programming, here’s one user’s guide to getting your money’s worth (of HBO Original Programming) via a new game I’m calling “Yes, Bitch or No, Ditch”
Insecure – Yes Bitch
Straight up a great romantic comedy. Great central friendship. Aggravating life choices. Be careful who you watch this with though because eventually you have to pick a side when two characters fight, and it’s torn households apart.
Crashing – No, Ditch
Boring. It’s about a stand up comedian, and even though I love Pete Holmes, it’s too niche and just not interesting. No one on the internet could even be bothered to make a decent gif of any moment in season one for me to use in this post. Go watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime instead.
Chris Gethard: Career Suicide – Yes Bitch
Funny, funny man. This is the most heartbreaking humor you’ll ever hear as Chris dives deep into his life with depression and anxiety. It first ran as an Off-Broadway show produced by Judd Apatow for a few months, and I’m so glad it lives on as an HBO special.
Band of Brothers – No, Ditch
It just plain and simple doesn’t hold up. I know there’s talent in there but I was. not. feeling. it. Shows have gotten better in the last 16 years.
Sex and the City – Yes Bitch
It just plain and simple holds up, for the most part. I went deep into my thoughts here.
The Jinx – Yes Bitch
“Bye – bye” will never be the same. True crime has become an American obsession, and this is the bar to which all subsequent stories must aspire. Mind-blowingly good.
Big Little Lies – Yes Bitch
TBH, haven’t seen it. My mom has. She said, “There’s some good stars in this.”
Veep – No, Ditch
I’ve seen two seasons, and it’s like, fine? It’s just a lot of effort for a show that already has so many critics up its ass. I truly resent JLD for winning 6 consecutive Emmys for the same role. SIXXXXXXXX. Now I know why we finally told FDR he needed to peace out. Tony Hale is good though.
Silicon Valley – Yes Bitch
It’s more original than Veep, but also comes with 100% more failure of the Bechdel Test. Idk though, it’s hilarious and I love it.
