My November Books!

Hi everyone! I am sharing the books I read in November with you today! I have to say, I was able to get quite a bit of reading done after all. I didn’t think I would be able to but it’s nice that I did! I’m now at 54 books read this year, 4 books over my Goodreads goal!

Anyway, this post will be on the shorter side as I have so much homework due this week! It’s a struggle. Because of that and a few other factors (such as being out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday, going out of town for a whole day to help my dad buy a new car, and so on) I didn’t get nearly as much done as I thought. So in order to get back to everything ASAP here we go!

Alex and Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz

3 out of 5 stars

This is a fictionalized telling of the meeting of Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler. While de la Cruz was inspired to tell this story by her daughter’s request to know more about their courtship after watching the musical Hamilton it’s not based on true events or the musical. I’m obsessed with all things even remotely related to Hamilton now so of course I had to read it. I have to say though, it’s not my favorite book. I thought it was slow and I just didn’t find the story too interesting because of that. The story leaves off just as they get engaged and it is meant to have a sequel but I’m not quite sure I’ll pick it up.

Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter 4 out of 5 stars

I did a full review of this book here so be sure to check it out if you missed it! This is Carter’s fifth book of the Gallagher Girl series and it gets really intense in this one. Cammie not only starts making real world decisions but also facing those consequences. She’s still sheltered a bit by the school as it provides a safe place for her but overall the danger element is gripping and kept me sucked in!

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green 4 out of 5 stars

This is my first John Green book which is kind of surprising to me seeing as how I have been following the Green brothers channel for awhile and how popular the other books are. I read this book for Kali’s book club but finished it so late I didn’t even get to participate in any conversations on the Facebook group. Ah well, maybe next time. I really was surprised by the story as I thought Aza’s OCD would cause her to focus on the mystery much like how Christopher’s autism causes him to focus on his in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. Shows how much I know about mental illness clearly, as that was completely wrong… But I feel like I understand OCD so much more now and I get why people with OCD could get mad about people throwing the phrase about. I can relate to Aza to an extent as I always go worst case scenario but her obsessions clearly are on a whole different level. I could completely understand her anxiety. I have to admit I read as much as I could and then quickly skimmed the rest of those parts as they were a little too much for me personally but I could tell it was very well done. But due to my own experiences I just didn’t want to risk it. Maybe I’ll go back and fully read those parts someday. Overall I was surprised how little the actual mystery took the spotlight and I did give this book four out of five stars but it came really close to 5.

United We Spy by Ally Carter 5 out of 5 stars

The last book of the Gallagher Girls series and I miss it already! I also just did the review for this one so now I’m all done with them! I enjoyed how the series ended and thought this was such a huge improvement of the series and characters.

And that was my November Books! Let me know if you’ve read any of these and, if so, what did you think?

Thanks for reading!
