Novels by the bestselling author, Orson Scott Card, are favorites among adult and young adult readers. One of his most acclaimed novels, Ender’s Game, was published in 1985 and adapted into a film in 2013. The main character of the novel, Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, is a genetically augmented child who is thrust into training for war. But he believes he is engaging in computer-simulated games.

Earth has been engaged in a 100-year-long search for a military genius to lead the war against aliens known as the Buggers, who seek to destroy all human life. To determine whether Ender will be the perfect general, he has to complete harsh training that will hopefully prepare him for war.

Ender’s Game received much critical acclaim and earned the Hugo and Nebula awards for Best Novel. Orson Scott Card subsequently wrote many sequels, which were organized into various series: the Ender Quintet, the Shadow Series, and the Formic Wars series.
