Our Camping Music

The 1975 “The 1975”

In 2013 when I heard this band, I fell in love! I’ve been obsessed ever since. Their self-titled album is my favorite. I listened to this album quite a few times this weekend. Then again, I listen to it often, so that’s not a surprise.

The Neighborhood “Wiped Out”

I had listened to this bands song “Sweater Weather” but had never looked deeper into their albums. To my surprise a few songs off of “Wiped Out” played on our Spotify and I immediately loved the mood of it. Ended up listening to the entire album, which really fit perfect with our camping trip.

Skinny Puppy “Weapon”

Skinny Puppy is one of our Fav bands and we listened to “Weapon” as Jonathan went fishing this morning. If you haven’t heard this, you really should. The inspiration for the album was inspired by the US government using their music as torture in Guantanamo Bay. Freaking bonkers! Some of the reasons I’m such a huge fan is because Skinny Puppy always brings up very important topics in their music and during stage performances. Besides the fact I love the messages they put out there, I also love this album because it sounds like their earlier stuff.

White Lies “To Lose My Life”

2009 we had just moved into our new house and I was doing a search for videos on YouTube and I ran across White Lies “Farewell to the Fairground”.  Their sound was so damn refreshing! I immediately went out and got the album. I still listen to this quite a bit. Funny thing is a few of the songs were featured on Vampire Diaries, which is a favorite of ours.

TR/ST “TRST”

Have I ever told you how I discovered TR/ST? If I haven’t here it goes…. I was streaming the FYF Festival from my iPad to my TV, waiting for Nine Inch Nails to go on. While I was waiting, I was sifting through photos on my phone, and all of a sudden I hear this amazing music with a dark voice but then it picked up to a higher pitch. I stopped what I was doing, and watched the entire performance. I ended up watching the rest of the set, I was completely enthralled. For whatever reason they never showed the name when the performance was over so I was tripping out! I had memorized some of the lyrics so I typed them in and found out it was TR/ST. I have been blasting both albums since that time and never stopped. What’s hilarious is they didn’t even end up airing NIN’s performance but I discovered TR/ST, so I wasn’t even mad about it.

M83 “Saturday = Youth”

When I was going through a lot of changes, one being looking to buy a new home back in 2008 I discovered this album. These songs are so peaceful to me. I always play this when we are in the forest. It makes my heart happy.

Ministry “Trax! Box”

Right when Jonathan got to his first fishing spot this morning, I thought some Ministry was appropriate. If you’ve never heard Ministry’s earlier albums, I recommend it. It’s a complete trip hearing their earlier stuff, compared to what they do now, which is heavy and crazy. Honestly, now-a-days I’d rather listen to their earlier stuff. I can only stand the more aggressive music when I’m in the mood. This album has a great mixture of their stuff.
