review 1: Wish I could have had a class with Bruce Holsinger when I was in college or grad school. I found A Burnable Book fascinating and very readable as well as a wonderful history lesson. I loved learning about a time that I knew very little about. I read it on my Kindle and found the "X Ray" feature helpful to refresh my memory of the characters. This appears to be a first in a series, and I was glad it did not end on a cliff hanger. Of course, we were left to wonder about poor Simon. Just curious if Simon's back story was plausible for the time period. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves history and learning. review 2: This book looked interesting and the actual story probably is, but I don't know for sure because I only read the first few, las... moret chapters and some bits in italics in between. There were a lot of characters as far as I could tell and half of them were prostitutes, they spoke as such, need I say more. I don't see why so much of such talk is necessary at all. I don't think it is, but there was far to much of it for me in the first few chapters. I am a person who hates to not finish a book and I can count on one hand books I have not finished, this one will now join them. less
