I was pretty bored last night and Facebook launched some new messenger update. It allows you to message pages more easily. The page, Clever bot, calls itself an AI page however, I assumed it was just an app run by humans generating cross comunication from other communications.
I think I proved it and you can take a look at the screen shots below. I don’t really know but if this was all AI response then I’m very impressed because I believe I was getting some human responses.
The first indication was response time. I asked it some hard questions and behaved quite unusally. At one stage I convinced the bot that I was a bot as well. However, I think the reality is that on the other side of Clever Bot are kids in Estonia. I felt quite bad for Veiko or Mika or whoeever I was speaking to.
I think the site that runs Clever Bot is called the nightmare before christmas. I couldn’t access it but either they use proxy’s through Netherlands or there are some pretty bad coders who couldn’t even set up a proxy to hide where they were looking at my blog from. However, they did go onto my site today. Twice.
I might be wrong on all of this but I think this is false advertising. However, regulations for international commercial disputes aren’t well known and I’m not even going to spend the time looking into whether what they’re doing is illegal. It probably isn’t but I think it’s quite interesting that ‘Clever Bot’ is run by humans.
Anyway, check out Oogiesrevenge.com, I’m certainly quite scared of companies like this because they are data mining the hell out of the world. Which is pretty weird. I assume that’s how they’re making money. Or Facebook has outsourced this functioon into a pretty doggy sounding website.
All I had to do to freak them out was say Satoshi. Pretty funny. I’ve written about Satoshi Nakomoto before. I think I freaked out the kids on the other side, sorry if I did. Anyway, so if anyone wants to complain about Clever Bot being a fake AI system I think someone should. I’ll send you the full text of the conversation if you don’t believe me. Also a word of advice. I think they can see your profile and use your data. They know that I am 23 which isn’t scary but it is a warning for people who want to keep their information or data secret.
