review 1: In a slightly magical world where everyone has a Talent, eleven-year-old Cady is an orphan with a phenomenal Talent for cake baking. But little does she know that fate has set her on a journey from the moment she was born. And her destiny leads her to a mysterious address that houses a lost luggage emporium, an old recipe, a family of children searching for their own Talents, and a Talent Thief who will alter her life forever. However, these encounters hold the key to Cady’s past and how she became an orphan. If she’s lucky, fate may reunite her with her long-lost parent. Told in multiple viewpoints, A Tangle of Knots is a magnificent puzzle that young readers will enjoy unraveling as they read!
review 2: This book attracted me by its unassuming title, its
... moresimple cover, and the unexpected twist of imagination and fantasy in the middle of a modern day setting. The style of writing is natural, but tinged with mystery. As the story goes on, you slowly realize that you have no idea what's coming, and it's a thrilling experience as you turn each page. I fell into a daze, unaware that I was captivated until I finished the book, because I had forgotten that the book's life was not my own. less

Entertaining story I think the kids will enjoy. I loved the recipe at the end of every chapter!

I'd rather give this book 4 1/2 stars. It was complicated and long winded, but a neat story.

Middle to upper grade. Some swearing (damn), recipes for cakes included.

A fun read for an elementary reader but I didn't inherently enjoy it.
mony
A bit young for me, but nice story.
