The Redlynch and District Local History Society is based in the parish of Redlynch and includes the villages of Redlynch, Lover, Morgan’s Vale, Woodfalls and Nomansland. It was founded in 1966 to promote and encourage interest in local history in the parish.
The Society had busy year in 2016. Apart from our meetings, they contributed to the ‘New Forest Remembers World War 1 project’ and also submitted articles to ‘Wiltshire at War – community stories ‘.
Following on from their Exhibition in 2014, they have produced a book entitiled ‘Life in the Redlynch Area 1914 – 1919’, available via the Society for £5 plus p&p.
They have also produced ‘The Redlynch Trail’ which highlights historic sites in the parish, available to download on the Society’s website www.redlynchlocalhistory.org
Their latest project is oral history – please get in contact with Barbara Hickman [email protected] if you have a story to tell about Miss Wort’s School in Vale Road, Woodfalls.
The Society actively supports local organisations such as its two churches and halls by mounting exhibitions and displays. New members are always welcome, please feel free contact them using this webform. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls Village Hall at 7.30pm.
