This book is the perfect example of why I fell in love with literature. Sometimes I like to bury myself into some deep and dramatic stories, just like Helen Hardt’s style, but other times I just like to enjoy an easy-going, sexy and romantic story just like this one.
This book features Violet, a perky American who is tired of spending her life waitressing and wants something more out of her life. Like, going to London and working for an arrogant barrister who prefers barking instead of talking.
Alexander Knightley has one simple goal in his life: be a barrister as good as his father once was. Which means working long hours, no free weekends or time to entertain a woman for more than the casual sex. Another thing he has no time for, is an assistant, no matter how irresistible she may look at all times!
I don’t have a lot to say about this book except that it is blooming perfect! The hotness (oh, the sex scenes in this book!), the playfulness, the love! Everything is on point! I’ll just say that my favorite thing about this book was his adoration for her! It wasn’t just the love or the obvious-and-very-hot attraction. It was the way he thought of her, the way he always thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world and that her smile was the most precious thing! He basically treasured her, only on his thoughts (and here I think that his POV was crucial) but it was the sweetest thing nonetheless.
I read the previous books in the series and those characters are back in this book but you don’t need to read the other books to read this one. And, by the way, this was, by far, my favorite book of the series; not that I didn’t love the other, but this one is just way too dreamy.
