review 1: Erik shocks the Hockey world and his college teammates by turning down millions to play in the NHL. He turns the deal with Boston down because he is gay, and is tired of hiding. He has been hurting for the last 5 years since his dad forced him to leave his HS, and the boy he was in love with, Tyce in his junior year. Tyce hasn't gotten over Erik either, but can they work things out, and what will Erik's teammates, friends and family think when he comes out of the closet? I liked the premises, but at times it was written to feel sort of YA, with sex. The characters felt much younger than 20 something's. I loved Sam & would love to read his story. The interactions between Sam, Erik and Tyce were funny and heartwarming. Erik's sister Arielle got on my nerves at times. She was... more always there. The chemistry between Erik and Tyce was great. I especially enjoyed the sweet and tender moments between them. I felt some of the story was a bit farfetched and melodramatic. I wish it would have had an epilogue. I want to know where they end up! This is my 1st book by this author, but I will be looking into more!!
review 2: Not a bad story, I liked it. I only have three issues. The parents capitulation was unbelievable. It didn't match their words and actions from the start of the story. My other issue is a personal pet peeve. I personally believe every year makes changes to who a person is and who they become. Being apart from someone for a year or more and then suddenly back together is not impossible just improbable. 5 years apart has to change a person. Not to say two people who were once together cant get back together again, they can, just not within half a chapter. The writer kind of went overboard with 'Always have, always will".Otherwise, I liked the writing. And I will look out for more from Teegan Loy. less
