After a painful loss, Cady Moreland is coming to Magdalene to start the next chapter of her life. A chapter that began eighteen years ago but had a heartbreaking ending. The time in between was full of family and friendship, but Cady could never get the man she fell in love with all those years ago out of her heart.

Coert Yeager has learned to live without the girl who entered his life right when she shouldn’t and exited delivering a crippling blow he never would have suspected. The time in between was full of failing to find what he was missing…and life-altering betrayal.

But when that girl shows up in Magdalene and buys the town’s beloved lighthouse, even if Coert wants to avoid her, he can’t. A fire in town sparks a different kind of flame that won’t be ignored.

As Cady and Coert question the actions of the two young adults they once were thrown into earth-shattering circumstances, can they learn from what came in between and find each other again?

“This is the real thing.”

The Time Between is a sweet novel about two characters who get a second chance at love. It is fast paced, steamy, and emotional, with great characters and, surprisingly, not a lot of drama. It shows that appearances can be deceiving and that family is what you make it.

Kristen Ashley delivers another novel that is fun and entertaining, despite the abrupt shifts in timeline, with a romance that makes readers swoon. It follows the same old formula we all know and love, but this time it brings back some of our favorite characters from her other series.

Readers always know what to expect when picking up a KA book: a sweet heroine who is a bit on the wild side and an Alpha hero who can be all kinds of a jerk sometimes. It’s the same thing in this novel, as Cady and Coert, our main characters, get a second chance at repairing their relationship.

The shifts between past and present at the beginning of the novel, as it sets up Cady and Coert’s past together, are kind of abrupt and disrupt the flow of the book. I don’t feel like they were necessary in any way, as Coert and Cady end up hashing out their history after they meet each other again 18 years later.

I did find one of the main reasons why they stayed broken up to be super weird and… it made me a bit uncomfortable? I don’t want to give away spoilers, but it is what keeps them separated for 18 years after they first met. It is just an odd and unbelievable situation all around, and coupled with all the misunderstandings thrown in, it is just… not good.

All in all, The Time Between is a really adorable read. There isn’t a lot of drama, with the focus on the story being more on Cady and Coert’s time together as they get to know each other again. There are a lot of steamy scenes and great side characters, and the quick wit and humor that are part of KA’s novels are also present. Definitely recommend it to KA and all Romance fans!
