I have finally gotten around to finishing the Bridgerton series! (Note: I started with the third book, read until the end, and just recently read book one and now this one is the second.) This was yet another solid Bridgerton romance, despite Anthony not being my favorite Bridgerton boy (that would be Colin).
The hero of the tale, Anthony Bridgerton, did not sit well with me. His fear of an early death aside, I found him to be much too domineering, which was something I had sensed in the first book, “The Duke and I”, as well. While occasional dominance can be attractive, he was always trying to control the situation.
Overall the storyline was interesting. It was predictable, but it is very difficult to be unpredictable in a historical romance (particularly since the blurb on the back of the book typically gives it away). Aside from that, I feel the story could have been drawn out a little longer, but it ended well.
I would recommend the entire Bridgerton series to those who love historical romance. They are satisfying romances that make your heart happy.
