review 1: I have read both this book, and the first in the series, The Dead Red Cadillac. Lalla, the heroine-sleuth of the book is interesting and very brave. But, I also find her inability to maintain relationships rather difficult to follow at times. I enjoyed the mystery, and as in the first book, the characterizations are well done. The mystery was not too easy to solve, and that is what I want in a mystery. If you are interested in a mystery that will keep you occupied and ready to turn pages, then this is a book you will enjoy.
review 2: I read this book because my mother's name was 'Lalla' - also a sister and a couple of nieces. Was curious where the author got the name. I got a response to my e-mail to Ms. Dahlke but she avoided answering the question as to whe... morere she got the name. She may be concerned about someone wanting a piece of the action - which I do not. Just curious where she got the name. Have never known anyone outside of my family with that name. Entertaining read. less
