Sensory deprivation: Deliberately reducing or removing sensory stimuli for one or more senses.
- Meant to make one rely on one sense by depriving one of another sense (Ex. pay more attention to physical sensation because they can’t see)
- Examples include but are not limited to blindfolds, earmuffs, earbuds, hoods, a dark room, clothespins, etc.
- As an alternate to completely cutting off a sense or in conjunction with cutting of a sense, you can increase sensory stimulation so much so that the brain is overwhelmed trying to process and interpret all the stimuli. Ex. Lighting numerous candles of different scents, playing 3+ different genres of music simultaneously, strong flavored foods, ice and hot wax together, impact toys, warm water & a small paint brush
- Extreme caution needs to be taken when doing this. Numerous dangers to the sense deprived person can arise and it’s the dom’s job to make sure the sub stays safe. Educate yourself before trying
Here is an example of a scene told from the point of view of the dom:
