The Mavens of Mayhem Chapter of the Sisters in Crime will hold its next meeting at 11AM on September 23rd at the Bethlehem Public Library in Delmar. The speaker will be Eleanor Kuhns who is the 2011 winner of the Minotaur Books/Mystery Writers of America First Crime Novel competition. She received her master’s in Library Science from Columbia University, and is currently the Assistant Director at the Goshen Public Library in Orange County, New York. The topic is Genre Bending and will consist of an interactive program on popular genres answering the question:
Why do librarians put MY books in such crazy categories?
What is a genre? What is not?
How is a genre determined?
And what about the books that bend the genres?
The interactive aspect should appeal to librarians, writers and readers. Everyone is invited.
