Snail Mail

Snail mail is making a comeback in the next 3 years- i’m calling it now. Let’s face it- it’s already here! Mailing letters starting in 1653, when the first post office was established listed in Paris. Cool, right? I always thought the idea of letters was romantic- writing to another and expressing yourself through written words. A letter is something you can look back on, and remember the feeling you got when you first received it!

As I was scrolling through Instagram, I found lots of ‘snail mail accounts’…basically, people looking for pen pals all over the world. Isn’t it amazing how a generation (millennials) who grew up without having to send letters to communicate with others are craving that? Instead of texting and emailing, we want that old fashion feeling that can’t be replaced with a text.

Pen pals all over the world are making an impact. One of the aspects that I think is amazing is the creativity and work that goes into these envelopes. They are decorated, drawn on, stickered, everything you can think of. some beautiful examples are below.

One of the things I find most difficult for making friends or finding pen pals is connecting and finding them. @helpingsnailmailers on Instagram is a great tool for finding people from all around the world looking for pen pals! Send them a message with a short description of you or what you are looking for in a pen pal and they will post your description on their account!

Even if you have never had a pen pal before, it’s never too late to start! If you are looking for a pen pal, checkout some hashtags on Instagram like:

Good luck!
