STOP! PREPARE! CHANGE! STAY AWAKE! BE ALERT! IT’S ADVENT!!!

ADVENT means ‘ a coming’ This Sunday begins the four weeks of ‘Advent.’ The countdown to prepare as we wait in faith, hope and love for Jesus’ coming into our hearts again.

Mark 13:33-37(Gospel for Sunday-3rd Dec.)

33 Be on guard! Be alert[a]! You do not know when that time will come.34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’

I often hear people say why are we waiting for Jesus if He has already come, TRUE!

But don”t we celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations every year?

We live in a fallen world and what a great way to start with advent, to change our ways, to turn back to God, to make Jesus the centre of our lives.

I love the Advent wreath as it helps us focus on Jesus, it helps us keep track of what is to come.  Especially during Advent we open our hearts to God. I try to do that and speaking from experience, I always find myself ahead. I give money and I always have money in my wallet, I help people and there’s always someone there to help me. I fall and by the grace of God, He picks me up, I pray for people and God is there to help them too. God has promised to never leave us and  If you live your life right, God will catch up with you.

The first week of advent also marks the beginning of the new liturgical year Cycle B.

As we wait and prepare this Christmas, we are also waiting and preparing for Jesus’s second coming. We do not know the hour , we do not know the day nor year. We can only be redeemed by the grace of God. He knows what’s in our hearts and we should do everything in our power to try and be the best versions of ourselves.  We should keep a heaven perspective. We prepare our holidays, a marriage, children, to buy a house, to retire etc… well then why not for our eternal future???????????

START NOW, START THIS ADVENT, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE!!!!
