1.) Amok – An audible original drama by Sebastian Fitzek.
This was to be her last day alive. The renowned criminal psychologist Ira Samin prepared her suicide thoroughly. The death of her eldest daughter had weighed too heavily on her conscience for her to carry on and she yearned for one last drink to raise a toast to oblivion. Her morbid plans are interrupted and she is called in to negotiate a gruesome hostage situation at a radio station where a psychopath is playing a morbid game.
While the show is on air, he calls people from the phonebook at random. If they pick up the phone with a certain slogan, a hostage is set free. If they don’t, then the hostage is unceremoniously shot. The man threatens to continue playing this game until his fiancée arrives at the studio. The only problem is that his fiancée died several months ago….
I remember finding this audio drama completely by chance while being bored at work a few years ago. [i’m a transcriber so, i can listen to whatever i want while doing my job]. This drama got me at the edge of my seat the whole time i was listening, it was just plain awesome. I still listen to it from time to time.

2.) Kimi Ni Todoke by Shiina Karuho.
Kuronuma Sawako is completely misunderstood by her classmates. Her timid and sweet demeanor is often mistaken for malicious behavior. This is due to her resemblance to the ghost girl from “The Ring,” which has led her peers to give her the nickname Sadako. Longing to make friends and live a normal life, she is naturally drawn to Kazehaya Shouta, the most popular guy in class, whose “100% refreshing” personality earns him great admiration from Sawako. So when Kazehaya starts talking to her, maybe there is hope for the friendships Sawako has always longed for. Maybe…there is even a little hope for some romance in her future.
I absolutely adore this manga as well as its anime adaptation…it’s not finished yet, and sometimes there a lot of waiting but it’s so adorable, i just can’t not put it here.
3.) Neon Genesis Evangelion by Anno Hideki.
In the year 2015, the Angels, huge, tremendously powerful, alien war machines, appear in Tokyo for the second time. The only hope for Mankind’s survival lies in the Evangelion, a humanoid fighting machine developed by NERV, a special United Nations agency. Capable of withstanding anything the Angels can dish out, the Evangelion’s one drawback lies in the limited number of people able to pilot them. Only a handful of teenagers, all born fourteen years ago, nine months after the Angels first appeared, are able to interface with the Evangelion. One such teenager is Shinji Ikari, whose father heads the NERV team that developed and maintains the Evangelion. Thrust into a maelstrom of battle and events that he does not understand, Shinji is forced to plumb the depths of his own inner resources for the courage and strength to not only fight, but to survive, or risk losing everything.

Like, there’s no way i can talk about non written favorite and not talk about the manga/anime/movies that were there all the time, this is my Japanese “Potterish” companion. No, not because it has anything like the Potterverse, but because it’s the story i grew up with and the one i read/watched the most in all my life.
4.) Welcome To Night Vale by J0seph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor.
WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE is a twice-monthly podcast in the style of community updates for the small desert town of Night Vale, featuring local weather, news, announcements from the Sheriff’s Secret Police, mysterious lights in the night sky, dark hooded figures with unknowable powers, and cultural events.
Do podcasts count? Because i love this baby with all my heart. Seriously is so creepy and amazing, i recommend it to everyone. This is such a unique kind of story and storytelling, i can’t for the episodes to come out every time!
5.) Alive! The final evolution by Kawashima Tadashi.
Taisuke Kanou is your average 16-year-old student. He has two close friends, Hirose and Megumi. Hirose has trouble with bullies, but Taisuke is always there to defend him, even though he just winds up getting beaten instead of Hirose. During class one day, Taisuke is hit by something unworldly and for that split second, he sees a vision of the universe. As he’s walking home from school, he sees a girl fall and die in front of him, but his first thought is jealousy. He later finds out that the strange sensation that hit him is spreading throughout Japan. Those who are struck by it either commit suicide or “evolve,” but the comrades that evolve usually have dark intentions for the rest of the world.
I will never say enough times how amazing this manga is. Like, honestly i never read any other manga as fast as i did with this one. The story was so amazing and i loved it so much, it is by far one of my favorites. Sadly i never got an anime adaptation, though it should’ve because not only te concept was really interesting by the storylines were awesome. I just love it.
