review 1: Reminiscent of a middle brow action adventure movie with a low key romance thrown in. Even though the events described are implausible the internal logic of the story worked. The viewpoint switches among a varied cast of characters whose stories ultimate converge. I often beat up books for having ridiculous plots or characters who behave in unlikely ways, but at the end of the day, I just want to be entertained. This book entertained and the conclusion was satisfying. I really appreciate the understated ending.
review 2: I can't understand why this is getting such great reviews. The only reason I even finished it is because I have a personal policy about not quitting books, and unfortunately I was listening to the audio book so I couldn't skim ahead. But I real
... morely wanted to quit so many times. I didn't like any of the characters. I hated the sex/romance parts, I just rolled my eyes through them. I didn't really care how it ended. And I figured out who the bookkeeper was well before the ending. I would not recommend this book. less
