review 1: If you are a fan of the movies 'Outbreak' or 'Contagion', then you will enjoy this book. Rather than focusing on those who are trying to find a vaccine for the pandemic, as the movies have done, this book focuses on a regular family. It gives a pretty accurate take on how things could be if you were cut off from the world, limited food and water, trying to keep children entertained when they are not allowed outside the confines of their house. I was itching to read another chapter every time I put the book down!
review 2: Are we prepared organizationally or personally for a pandemic? This looks at the reality of daily life when a pandemic of bird flu hits the US. The location is suburban Columbus, Ohio but could be anywhere. In addition to the collapse of ci
... morety services, the family must deal with the daily issues of power outages, food sources, interaction with others, and those who would use a crisis to steal or cheat others. Another interesting "what if"! less
