review 1: I am a big fan of Karen Robards. When I started reading this book I knew I found another other who can write romance suspense which I enjoy. I find there are far and few between. This is a story about faith and love. The book opens with the beginning of a relationship between Megan and Cole. Cole is a straight lace police officer. But things turn for the worse when Cole gets a call and arrests Sean, Megan's brother. Sean is convicted of killing and raping a girl. Megan does not believe it. During this ordeal, Cole distances himself from Megan. Three long years endure, the trial and two years in jail on death's row and Megan won't give up - she knows her brother is innocent and she was going to do anything within her power to prove it. However Sean does give up. After his l... moreast appeal he tells Megan he just wants to die. He can no longer live in a dark cell with no windows with only 1 hour of outside air for the rest of his life. So his execution is planned. Megan still not giving up begins to turn up some evidence. But she ends up endangering her life stirring up loose ends with some dangerous people. Cole gets involved and tries to help her and she messes up his career. The story unfolds with darkness as the serial killer nicknamed the slasher kills more girls and sets his sights on Megan. You will have to read to see if Megan gets her HEA. I started the second book in the series as it continues the story of Megan's brother Sean. I purchased this book from Amazon.ca for $7. It was worth it.
review 2: This is the first book I've read by this author. I really enjoyed it. Megan Flynn is trying to do anything she can to prove her brother, Sean, did not rape and kill a women. He's currently on death row and won't file anymore appeals. Cole Williams was the detective that arrested Sean. He was also Megan's boyfriend at the time. They broke up after the arrest. It's been three years and they meet again at a crime scene. One that Megan believes might be related to the one that got her brother convicted. I found that I liked the characters and found their relationship believable. The bad guy was totally twisted and the crimes on the gory side. Overall, a great read. less
