review 1: This is the second Matthew Dicks book I've read. He has a real talent for making an unusual personality lovable. Milo is a charming man with a big heart that suffers from untreated OCD. The central focus is on his attempts to hide his problem from everyone. He desire to appear normal (his word not mine) and fear that others will find out he is not is both understandable and heartbreaking. Anybody who feels that they are different in some way, which is most of us, will identify. The story itself is does not always come across as believable. But the book is not really about the story but the character and his growing understanding that he cannot hide who he is from those close to him. He come across very real.
review 2: THIS BOOK IS TWO THINGS--TEDIOUS AND SLOW.
... more MILO IS MILDLY INTERESTING, BUT I'M SICK OF HIS JELLY JARS AND OTHER "SECRETS" THAT PUT HIM IN A STATE OF MENTAL INERTIA LIKE THOSE BUDDIES OF HIS WHO MEET TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES. I SO DON'T CARE. I WAS OKAY AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS, BUT THE STORY AND THE CHARACTER JUST WENT NOWHERE. AND, FOR THE RECORD, I DESPISE THE TV SERIES "MONK" FOR THE SAME REASONS. GOOD GRIEF! less
