The Emperor of Evening Stars by Laura Thalassa

In the beginning, there was darkness.

Before he met Callie, before he became the Bargainer, there was Desmond Flynn, the bastard son of a scribe. A boy born to a weak mother, cursed with little magic, and destined to marry a slave.

But fate had something else in mind.

Till darkness dies.

From the barren caves of Arestys to the palace of Somnia to the streets of earth, this is how Desmond Flynn, a fairy who began with nothing, became the Emperor of Evening Stars.

This novella was everything I had hoped it’d be, and more. We already know the story, but most of it we only had Callie’s perspective on. If you’ve ever wondered how Des grew up, what his childhood looked like, or how the showdown with his evil father went, you need to grab this book!

I absolutely loved seeing the events unfold from Des’ point of view. It added even more depth to an already wonderfully developed character.

You won’t find long character introductions or scene descriptions here, we’ve already gotten all of that from the full length novels. What you will find is the emotional reactions Des experiences while everything is going on.

I also really enjoyed seeing Malakai and Des become friends and getting a new understanding of their love and devotion to one another. I think I need Malakai’s story soon.
