review 1: You know when I book puts on paper truths that you've already known deep down in your gut? That is what Milford's work does for me. She writes fantasy that tells you about the inner truths of our history. She creates intriguing characters and compellingly weaves the heart of our history with the alternate version she has created. She taps into the forgotten tales and overlooked individuals that define the story as well as those we already know of.

Great historical setting, great characters. This definitely ranks amongst my favorite YA novels!
