Finally, another book from the Gabriel Allon series. It’s as good as the other books in the series.

This is book number 2 in the series and it’s an introductory for Christian Keller. I think it’s a nice introduction for the Christian Keller character. At first, the name doesn’t come up, not until the middle of the story. What I like about this character is that he’s a man with purpose and still have some conscious not to kill Gabriel and Anna Rolfe. At least he doesn’t kill for the money.

The background story is a bit dark, about the paintings and belongings from the Jew that is stashed away at Swiss banks. And how the bankers refused to returned the riches to the right heir. Talking about greed to the extended version of it.

The plot and the way the story goes is quite fast pacing. Also there’s a bit of dark mood around Gabriel Allon after what happened in Venice. The emotion on the story is still quite dark and sad. Not too many jokes or romance in this story. But considering the background story, it’s quite suitable.

Recommended for those who like spies story, fast paced plot and historical background story.
