review 1: Bestselling picture book author Mem Fox reunited with illustrator Judy Horacek to create Good Night, Sleep Tight, which brings to life classic children's rhymes, within its own story! This book tells the story of two children, Bonny and Ben, home on a Friday night with their favorite babysitter, Skinny Doug. As they get ready for bed, Skinny Doug tells them a nursery rhyme that he learned from his mother. After he finished, the children begged him to say it again, but instead Skinny Doug tells them another, and then another, and then another, until it is long past their bedtime! One by one, Skinny Doug recites classic children’s rhymes to the children, taking older readers on a trip down memory lane, and exposing young readers to a variety of poetic little stories! I fir... morest read this book at the beginning of last year when I started teaching preschool and I absolutely loved it! My kids use to ask me to read it to them every day before naptime! To this day, I can recite the whole story to you! I think this story would be a great read aloud book for all ages, but especially preschool and kindergarten (ages 3-5). Personally, I think this could also be a good introductory reader. The repetition and rhythm of the story could be very helpful for those first learning to read. Overall, I think this is a wonderful children’s poetry book. Not only does it have classic poetry from my childhood, but also the entire story is written in poetic rhyming form! It’s just so much fun to read to young students!
review 2: This was a nursery rhyme book in disguise, albeit a small collection of nursery rhymes. Bonnie and Ben pester their favorite babysitter, Skinny Doug, for more nursery rhymes at bedtime. He obliges...until they absolutely must go to sleep. Something about this completely clicked with my two girls (perhaps that the request for more rhymes was its own rhyme), and we reread this many times. I loved that the illustrator put the three characters into each rhyme as well. less

This book was an okay read, but the storyline was not a very good one. It is cute but that is it.
