A book turned series written by Margaret Atwood created by Bruce Miller, was about a town that is ran by a group of authoritarian, Christian theonomic men. Whose beliefs were to make women co dependent on them in everything. They were not to work, handle money, read, or even talk to eachother.
The fertility rate is very low so the few women that can still bare childern are turned into handsmaids. Their purpose is to move into the homes of these elite couples, and to be very blunt, endure being raped. They were trained to be perpared for this role, and there was no other option other than death. The Gilead was under very strict control, following the old testament of The Bible.
I started watching The Handmaids Tale last year, I was sure it wasn’t going to be anything that would sparked my interest but I was so wrong. I cried alot and was so furious with some of the characters, and before I knew it the show was over. This is something I would definitely recommend watching, and I asure you will be hooked!
This show has won 8 Emmys, 2 Golden Globes, and 3 Crtics Choice Awards all for Best drama Televison series, Best Actress and Supporting Actress proving this is one of the best shows to date.
