review 1: The beginning of the book moved a little too quickly, but she soon got into a rhythm. The flashback setup built suspense for me. By the end I couldn't put the book down until I found out what happened! I really enjoyed (yet also found it extremely depressing) reading more about Partition. It was one of those events I had vaguely heard of, yet didn't know the details. Great book especially if you historical fiction.
review 2: A well written novel of a star crossed love between an Indian man and a British woman in India on the verge of separation from Pakistan. Sophie falls in love with Jag, and as their story unfolds, your heart will expand with it. The description of their love, once they are separated, is beautifully poetic.
