The Night Circus

A mesmerising, multi-layered story of romance, illusions, intrigue and fate.

I felt like I’d been taken back in time and was following the characters from just a few steps away. I literally felt the warmth of candles and the cold of snow. I was swept away by the enchanting language and couldn’t help but give in to the pages which lured me to turn them.

The game begins when Celia and Marco are just children and are blissfully unaware of the path they’re being led down or that those who surround them are all (unknowingly) shuffling the deck and dealing the cards.

‘Le Cirque des Rêves’ is a circus like no other – it’s tents are black and white, it appears and disappears without warning and is only open at night.

“The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.”

But more than that,  it’s the board the game must be played on. Nobody can miss a turn. Nobody can show their hand. Nobody knows the prize, or indeed the forfeit, that’s at stake.
