review 1: This was a first time new author read for me. I know there are several other books out there and I'm sure at some point I'll get around to the beginning. I find it easy to say this was enjoyable, surprisingly twisty and in your face type characters. And someone who can spin an immense tale in the last 15 pages without missing a step, is doing something wonderful in my opinion. Take heed though, you might be a bit taken aback by and in how the leading detective "gets the bad guy" so to speak. Some wow moments!
review 2: this book totally sucked! it was a great read with plenty of suspense until the last. after spending my time reading 425 pages, the author thought it would be cute to throw in an ambiguous ending. i was not impressed and, in fact, totally pissed ... moreoff. after giving that much time to this author, i don't appreciate her playing cutsey games with the ending. i will personally never read anything by mo hayder again. less
