The word from Scout – enjoy this beautiful weekend!

“Our competence is from God, who has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of letter but of spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” – 2 Corinthians 3

Part of me wants to write about the wonderful, deep, spiritually satisfying conversation my Saturday men’s group enjoyed this morning. But it’s been a serious week of reflection in and through these posts so I’ll leave you with a scripture and defer to a few dog and grandchild photos instead.

Scout Labradoodle – and this is still very much in the serious vein – has been struggling a lot these past few weeks. She is dealing with chronic hip and back pain so walking, climbing steps, and doing anything other than snuggle up in her favorite places (the couch, the deck, and the front door) have all become increasingly difficult.

Regardless, she is still blissfully happy to simply hang out with the family. Scoutie makes us smile, and we believe we still make her smile too.

Meanwhile, up in Richmond, David and Beks are enjoying the new routine: Kindergarten for him, and pre-school for her. Not so easy on Naomi, however, getting everyone organized for that 7:45 bus.

No worries, though, because now the kids want to take Star (the Campbells’ aging dog) along to the bus stop too. What’s one more hand/paw to hold?

So here are a few photos of Scout. She’s very tired but looking fine for an aging Labradoodle. I’ll keep you posted on how she’s doing. Such a good dog…

In the meanwhile, enjoy this beautiful weekend! – DEREK
