This entire series was sitting at my local thrift store and while I have never heard of this series previously the back sounded intriguing as well as the 4.21 rating on Goodreads that caused me to ultimately buy them. I have to say this was a great purchase, this series is insanely better than I have ever imagined and is moving towards the top of the list for my favorite epic fantasies.
Starting with the characters, which were by far probably my favorite thing in this series. With each new addition they grew and bonded it was always interesting takes on classic fantasy tropes. The dynamic between Royce and Hadrian was probably my favorite solely because of their “good cop- bad cop” vibe.
Then there was the storylines which were intriguing and followed more of a classic epic. This series follows the tropes of fantasy but I found that I didn’t really mind because the storyline was pretty great.
Plus there is Sullivan’s writing style which I found to be pretty amazing. The way he was able to describe things and do world building was so vivid and something I enjoyed.
Overall I really enjoyed this series so far and I look forward to continuing it.
