review 1: Gittus's writing is beautiful and simple, those kinds that hit bulls-eye on your heart at almost every turn of the story. Sun lacks personality which I find rather pathetic. Minus one star because the story would have been better if I could feel her character more. A lot of teenage sex in the story. But I read it in the first place as a summer, dont-need-to-contemplate-about-life-all-the-time kind of read. So this book suits that a lot. There is still room for young adult in my heart though I don't seem as excited by it as I did back then. review 2: This book is beautifully written - as you'd expect since poetry is a driving force in the novel. The portrayal of 'the human condition', especially when we're young and inexperienced, was also key to my enjoyment as... more a reader. I love the element of possibility that accompanies each character: things aren't always as they seem, nothing's fixed, and even the most difficult of situations can suddenly change for the better. Loved it! less
