I bet you didn’t think I’d participate in not one, but three Tome Topple readathons this year haha. To be honest I didn’t think I would either, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do to get through these tomes piling up on her TBR.
If you’re new here, or simply haven’t heard of this readathon before, Tome Topple is a readathon where you pick up those intimidating books or graphic novels that are 500+ pages. The rounds take place on different dates throughout the year, hence the “rounds”, but this round is taking place from midnight November 17th to 11:59pm November 30th (all in your time zone). The only rule to Tome Topple is that the books must be 500+ pages and bind ups don’t count as each separate book must be at least 500 pages. However, omnibuses do count for graphic novels.. this is the only exception.
Challenges:This time around there are bonus Instagram challenges which you can find on Sam’s (@thoughtsontomes) Instagram. These challenges are just for fun and are no way mandatory for participation. As always you can find Tome Topple on GoodReads for discussions and lists for possible reads during the readathon, and on Twitter where the hosts will be doing reading sprints!
Tome Topple TBR
To be honest.. this time around I’m slightly cheating. I say slightly because the book on my TBR does meet the 500+ page requirement for Tome Topple, I just.. don’t have 500+ pages of it to read. The book in question was started a couple months back and I keep procrastinating it and delaying the inevitable completion of said book.
That book is the one and only A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin. If you’ve been following the last few monthly wrap ups you will be quite familiar with my progress.. but I have a grand total of 449 pages left to read. It will be my only book for this round of Tome Topple in the hopes of finishing it before December. We shall see how this goes, I did the math and something like 32 pages a day can have it done in 2 weeks.. so there’s a good chance this isn’t a fools errand!
My previous rounds of Tome Topple have gone smoothly, but both of those I didn’t have this beast of a book staring me down. But, if I want to meet my goal of completing A Song of Ice and Fire series before the end of 2017 I can’t let these last 449 pages stand in my way.
