review 1: I received this book in a Good Reads First Reads Giveaways. I was looking forward to reading Love Gone Mad. It had an interesting premise & I'm a sucker for a good thriller. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them. I'll keep this short, as to avoid spoiling anything, but this book had too many things going on. I'm guessing the author intended to have the finished product be a mash-up of the TV shows Law & Order and Grey's Anatomy. Unfortunately the finished product comes across as a Lifetime movie presented by Syfy. Yes, Tara Reid would be the star. The dialogue between the two main characters is so heavy and saccharine, I thought the book was printed with molasses instead of ink. The secret link between those two characters also made my eyes roll, but I'll refrain from spo... moreiling anything. I do wonder if I was the only person who said "REALLY??" upon reading that plot point. The antagonist had some promise, but by the end was a caricature of a horror slasher villain. I was half expecting a reveal he spent summers at Camp Crystal Lake. This novel had the potential to be a lot better. The court room scenes were interesting as well as the science explaining the abilities of the main villain. Unfortunately the whole thing becomes a muddled mess due to paper thin characters and an "everything but the kitchen sink" mentality in regards to its genre.
review 2: Brilliant and amazing. The terror a stalking victim feels is very very accurately described. I am a Stephen King fan, and although this isn't necessarily my favorite genre, the author had me at the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. I was sad when I had finished it; I would like to read more about the doctor, his wife, the traumatized child Marlee, and their newborn. I also enjoyed the conspiratorial suspense the author created when we just know the killer is only feigning sanity, he will strike again, and should not be let out of the institution. Throw away the key!! All in all a very satisfying experience. less

Pretty predictable. Free Kindle book. Don't know if I will read the other one.

The love story went too fast, but I enjoyed the story on the whole.
