So, I know I had wanted to read Wallbanger. However, I forgot that this book was even a thing. When I was on Instagram one night a person I followed reminded me of this series by talking about a book that takes place later on in the series.
I genuinely had serious high hopes for Wallbanger. That’s because I have always heard fairly good things about Alice Clayton’s writing.
When it got down to it though…I’ve ended up not enjoying the book overall as I did while I was reading Wallbagner. The next day after reading the book I realized that Wallbanger, to me, is an “okay” novel. While reading I was enjoying to get the characters and the storyline was great.
Something that I wasn’t OK with is that within the first 25% of the book Caroline legitimately said that “She wasn’t like other girls.” I don’t know about you, but to me that is just….unsavoury.
I genuinely really like the characters in the story. Caroline proved to be an interesting character in the ways that she did things. She was a bit predictable at times, but other than that, Caroline is a blast.
While I enjoyed reading Wallbanger I had this one thought over and over again. Ok, so, I’m not from SanFran, nor have I ever been to SanFran. I don’t know how big or how small they apartments may be. One thing I do know is that apartments are freakin’ expensive, and I have no idea, realistically, how Caroline would be able to afford her apartment by herself. She’s only holding down one job, and she has a cat (cats can be expensive, I know from personal experience).
There were moments in this story line where I was glad that there were some other points of view. I’m also glad that they only made some appearances, since Wallbanger is about Caroline and Simon.
I ended up giving Wallbanger, 2 of 5 stars on GoodReads.
