review 1: It looked really good from the outset with good reviews and critics remarks. But you get started and you realize that the author is definitely from Iowa because absolutely nothing happens. Proposals happen- they are rejected, the woods call- they are rejected. Just do something Marni! I am a native Iowan and books are a good way to escape the boredom of life here but definitely not this one. Argg! Disappointing. Well I did give it two stars because the one part of book I enjoyed- the part about the woods was interesting. So if you want a book about wishy-washy person who does nothing unless she's forced to and a creepy woods I recommend this one.
review 2: "A Creature of Moonlight" by Rebecca Hahn is an amazingly written book with a fascinating story. Marni liv... morees in a land surrounded by a mysterious forest with mystical creatures living in it. The forest usually starts to come closer, than retreats back every year. However, the forest has not been retreating and is now closing in on the city. Everyone is scared that their land will be taken. Everyone but Marni. Every once and a while, a girl wanders into the woods and never comes back. Accept one time, after ten years, one of them came back and she had a baby with her. That baby was Marni and she's always walked in the woods and felt a deep connection with the creatures and the trees there. The king starts to think that the woods closing in is Marni's doing. Marni has to be careful about who to trust. The creatures in the woods, the queen and the lords in the palace, someone is always telling her to come home, but Marni is not sure where home is anymore. I enjoyed this book and it was very well written. less
