Just when we thought Jude Law‘s love life couldn’t get any more confusing, he’s gone and made a baby with ex-girlfriend Catherine Harding.
‘Who IS this Catherine girl?‘ we hear you cry.
‘But I thought it was just a short fling?‘ you might wonder.
‘She’s 23!!‘
Yep, yep and yep.
Jude, 41, had a whirlwind romance with Catherine earlier this year, but the pair are now firmly separated and Jude has been reported as mostly single over the past few years.
So why on earth are they having a baby?
‘I can confirm that Jude Law and Catherine Harding are expecting a child together in the spring,’ said Jude‘s representative. ‘Whilst they are no longer in a relationship, they are both wholeheartedly committed to raising their child.’
The actor already has three children with ex-wife Sadie Frost who he divorced in 2003 – Rafferty, 18, Rudy, 12 and Iris, 13, to whom he has joint-custody – and one five-year-old daughter, Sophia, with American model Samantha Burke.
Jude and Samantha had a brief fling in 2008 which, much like Harding, resulted in way more than he had bargained for. Jude pays a reported £5,000 a month in child support for Sophia.
Jude has proven himself to be a great father over the years.
‘Being a daddy is what counts,’ he said in 2009. ‘I used to sleep until noon, but it’s not so bad to have to get up at 7 and give them breakfast.
‘My daughter made me realise that if there’s anything that’s going to make a man of you, it’s having your will broken by a little girl.‘
And, as the adorable snaps above show, Jude is a loving family man – maintaining a close relationship with his kids’ mother Sadie.
These qualities are admirable.
But still, it has to be said, is it time for the actor to start acting a bit more responsibly during his brief relationships?
Katie Price has been villified for her decision to have children with three different partners (Harvey, 12, with ex boyfriend Dwight Yorke, Junior, nine, and Princess, seven, with ex husband Peter Andre and Jett, one, and Bunny, two months, with husband Kieran Hayler) but at least they were all serious relationships at the time.
Surely what Jude Law has done is MUCH worse?
