review 1: A moving and imagitive exploration of living with depression. Rebecca Hunt has written a wonderful story using Churchill's own term for depression, the "black dog". The writing is lovely, what I would describe as very literary, The small cast of charcters are brilliant and very developed considering this is a short piece of work. I was pleasantly surprised how funny it was. This isn't a sad book at all, it is very optimistic without shying away from the dark elements of depression. It's a joy to read.
review 2: A very unusual concept, nevertheless interesting. Brought up many issues about the theory of depression and its impact. The nurture and nature debate was at the forefront of this book and the cross over between fighting the 'Black Dog' and accepting its
... moreultimate motive. Though unusually enjoyable the right frame of mind is needed to read this, as at times its frustrating and dare I say it? depressing. less

In light of the recent death of Robin Williams, this book is even more poignant.
