review 1: Ummm, er...what to say? I've been reading Rebecca York's 'Moon' series since 2003 and generally enjoy the book ALOT. "Eternal Moon", however, just rubbed me wrong and it's difficult to pinpoint exactly why. Maybe because I felt this book tripped over the paranormal line into the realm of 'I don't think so'.Renata is independently wealthy but works to make a difference in the world because she's given up on love. Everyone in her life who has been dear to her has died horribly and she's decided that whatever curse she is living under needs to stop. Thus, it's been several years since she's gotten close to anyone...especially a man. Working as an undercover PI, trying to ID the person killing real estate agents, she's surprised when she's saved from a pack of feral dogs... more by a wolf. Minutes later, acquaintance businessman Jacob appears as if my magic and they feel an irresistible attraction to each other. But what Renata doesn't know is that she's not living under a curse...she's being stalked by a demon and that demon's job is to make sure she doesn't connect with her true love.Jacob has secrets of his own tho. He's not just a man, he's a Marshall werewolf. And once he gets close enough to scent Renata, he knows she is his mate. A mate he doesn't want to have, but still his mate and his to protect. And when these two come together, they discover a past--and a future--neither could have dreamed of.The sex is hot, but the connection was only lukewarm for me. Being the reincarnation of a goddess just was a little too much for me...and what kind of goddess kills her man, anyway? Bottom line is that I didn't grow to care for either of the main characters...actually liked the dog Jacob saved more than him or Renata. I haven't given up on the series though. I'll just count this one as an 'off' book and hope the next one rings my chimes.
review 2: This has an interesting mix of reincarnation, suspense, romance, science fiction and paranormal elements. Very well written too!Private investigator, Renata Cordona has some kind of psychic ability that even she isn't aware of but unexpected things keep happening to her. She is investigating the real estate agent murders and Jacob Marshall keeps showing up in werewolf form and saving her life. Renata and Jacob have been reincarnated for hundres of years and a demon keeps interferring with their happiness. In addition to solving the murders, they also must find a way to stop the demon from separating them once again. less
