Book Review – Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake

Book: Girl of Nightmares

Author: Kendare Blake

Format: Paperback

Rating: 4/5

Review: This is the second book in the Anna duology by Kendare Blake and I found it quite interesting. Once again it is from the point of view of our protagonist, Cas and is set about 6 months after the ending of the first book, Anna Dressed in Blood. I will admit I did not enjoy it as much as the first book as I felt that some sections dragged on too much. Chapters would be over 20 pages long and I’d feel as if nothing was happening for the plot and it was slightly irritating. The ending as well I did not enjoy as it was just so unexpected and that’s not in a good way. I don’t want to give spoilers but if you’ve read it you may understand what I mean by the effort the characters went to seemed pointless in the end because of Cas’ decision. Once again, the writing style I did enjoy, and I will warn you now that it contains violence (more descriptive than before) and bad language so if you do not like those, I’d recommend staying away from this duology. But if you like violence, horror and a hint of romance and you don’t mind descriptions of gore and bad language then you may enjoy these books. I do recommend them as long as you don’t mind the things I just mentioned and overall both books are quite good and I did enjoy them a lot, I did also like that it is purely supernatural and based on traditions. It was all very interesting to read.
